Like Luke I probably would have been more defensive about this. I am so paranoid of other drivers. You have to anticipate the other cars possible moves and think that they don't see you.  But I wasn't at the seen and I wasn't on his ped.

The truck was a problem obviously.. But most of the football players I see riding here have no business being on scooters.. they wobble, ride with their feet sticking out (and stop fred flintstone style.)   They ride two-up on Bronc or Tank scooters...
They all look like they're one wrong move from death.   In the video he cruised right into the truck without swerving or anything.  It also looks like he was going into a blind intersection pretty fast.

That's not to say I wouldn't have been hit, but I'd have been sliding sideways at the time of impact or at least looking like I knew what was about to happen.    And I doubt my boots would fly forty feet into the air like his flip flop did.

This is the Iowa football player that got hit last week . This is a big dude and he is flopping like  a rag doll.  Knocked his shoe off or something.
Be safe . Wear helmets.

An event I'm heavily involved in is a fund-raiser disc golf tournament, which is now in its sixth year. This tourney raises money for the Quad City Animal Welfare Center, which is the only no-kill shelter in the area. This is an ace race, which means all the holes are shortened up big time. Lots of drinking, long day of throwing and everybody always has a great time.

This year, the top prize is a 2009 Honda Metropolitan (red, 50cc) courtesy of Fun Mart Cycle Center. Yeah, I know ... it's modern and it's plastic, but we're pretty excited about the value of the prize this year.

So, if you know any disc golfers, can you point them to www.discnfordogs.com? As far as we know, this ace race has the richest payout in the U.S. for a disc golf ace race.

I shall be there.

I am also recruiting scooter riders to participate in the QC Celtic Highland games, Sept 18, at Centenial Park in Davenport.  We were invited to open the show, ride in the parade, and hang around for show and shine. We will have a tent.  Here is the website: www.celtichighlandgames.org.

Brew Ha Ha is also going on about 4 blocks away. This is a beer and cheese tasting event at LeClaire Park in Davenport, Iowa. $20 admission to includes unlimited tastings of ales, lagers, porters and pilsners from dozens of brewers, plus non-alcoholic beverages plus cheese tasting from the Cabot Creamery Cooperative from Vermont.
